Croakers Ladies lose relegation decider

27/4/2015

On Thursday last week, our Ladies team lost 4-5 against Longslade Stoneygate Ladies 2 and have been relegated from division 2.

This was a ‘winner takes all’ relegation crunch match between the division’s bottom two teams. Although many of the rubbers went to three games, it wasn't quite enough and Croakers Ladies will be playing in division 3 next season. The Ladies team finishes with 2 wins and 8 losses.

Commiserations and thank you to everyone who played for the Ladies team this season.  Let’s look forward to a successful 2015/16 season.

Mixed 2 end season with an away win

23/4/2015

Mixed 2 played their last game of the season away to Wanlip Mixed 1 last night and secured a 6-3 victory.

The Mixed 2 team beat Wanlip 9-0 back in March, but in their home surroundings and using those dreaded plastic shuttles, Wanlip were determined to provide a tougher test. Carole & Lee managed to win all three rubbers, with Kate & Jed winning two and Lia & Alex winning one. Well done, team!

This was the team’s only away win in what has been an up-and-down season. Strong home performances; Mixed 2 finish the season with a perfect home record, have been coupled with disappointing away results, suffering from an unsettled line-up in key games.

Mixed 2 finish the season as runners-up in division 5a with 5 wins and 3 losses, which is a good result and something to build on next season.

Well done and thank you to everyone who played for Mixed 2 this season.

New Hall - Unbeaten record secured after nervy win

20/4/2015

On Friday, our New Hall team won 11-7 against Birstall in a closer than expected, end of season match against the division’s bottom team.

The score was tied 4-4 after the men’s and ladies’ games, but after winning the lion’s share of mixed games, Croakers eventually came away with an 11-7 victory. The team was composed of Carole, Alex, Ayesha, Lee, Richard and Alex.

This victory secures an unbeaten record in division 3 and promotion to division 2. Congratulations to everyone who contributed to a successful New Hall campaign.

Ladies season hangs in the balance

15/4/2015

Croakers’ Ladies team lost 0-9 against Meltonshire Ladies 1 last night and are left fighting for survival in division 2 with one game remaining.

Fortunately, the team’s fate could be in their own hands.  The last game of the season is against Longslade Stoneygate Ladies 2 who, according to the division reports released back in March, are propping up the table.

The game against Longslade Stoneygate Ladies 2 is on Thursday 23rd April.

Come on, Croakers Ladies!

Croakers Ladies vs South Leicestershire Ladies 2

7/4/2015

On Thursday last week, our Ladies team lost 2-7 at home to a strong South Leicestershire Ladies 2 team.

Many of the rubbers were taken to three ends, but the opposition were just a bit too strong. This leaves the Ladies team in a perilous position in division 2 with just two games remaining against Meltonshire Ladies 1 and Longslade Stoneygate Ladies 2. Everyone at Croakers is wishing you luck!

The next game against Meltonshire Ladies 1 is on Tuesday 14th April.
