On Friday last week, our New Hall team drew their match with Loughborough Leys New Hall 2.
Croakers were down 6-8 after the singles and doubles games, but won the mixed games 4-2 to draw the match 10-10 and earn a point. After losing 3-17 to Loughborough Leys' New Hall 1 team back in October, a draw against the New Hall 2 team is a positive result. However, the team came away thinking they could've won the match, ruing some of the games that were lost. The team was composed of Caroline, Ayesha, Claire, Henri, Raheel and Lee. The next match is against Meltonshire New Hall 2 on Friday 22nd January. The Mixed 1 team endured another demoralising loss last night, losing 0-9 to Longslade Stoneygate Mixed 4.
This loss probably leaves Mixed 1 at the bottom of division 4, with no wins in the five matches played so far. Thanks to the pairings of Kate & Jed, Anna & Joel and Caroline & Lee for their efforts. The next match is against South Leicestershire Mixed 4 on Saturday 12th December. On Thursday last week, the Ladies team had to concede their match against Melton OG Ladies 1 following a venue mix-up.
Two thirds of the Ladies team thought the match was a home fixture and travelled to Brockington College instead of Longfield School, where the match was taking place. Oops. The next match is away at Leicester University Ladies 1 on Sunday 6th December. The Mixed 2 team won 7-2 against Huncote Mixed 1 last night, making that three wins out of three in division 4.
After an early lead, winning the first round of rubbers 3-0, Huncote struck back and won the second round 2-1. However, the Mixed 2 team stood strong and won the final round 3-0, completing a 7-2 victory. Ayehsa & Henri won all three rubbers, with Caroline & Raheel winning two rubbers along with Susannah & David. Henri, the team captain, said, "This is an important win since Croakers doesn't have a good track record against clubs that play with plastic shuttles. Well done, team." The next match is against South Leicestershire Mixed 4 on Monday 11th January. Croakers’ New Hall team won 14-6 against Hermitage Lakeside New Hall 1 last night, earning valuable points in a tough division.
Croakers made an excellent start, leading 9-3 heading into the mixed games, which the team won 5-3. Thanks to Ayesha, Samira, Claire, Lee, Raheel and Joel for their efforts. The next match is against Loughborough Leys New Hall 2 on Friday 27th November. On Sunday, the Mens 2 team won 6-3 against Huncote Mens 3 in division 6b.
The Mens 2 team beat Huncote 6-3 at home at the start of the season, and that was backed up with another confident performance in Sunday's away fixture. Joel & Henri continued their good form and won all three rubbers. Jed & Martin won two rubbers and Trevor & Kam won one rubber. The next match is against Birstall Mens 1 on Monday 30th November. The latest updates to the League tables have been released and are available to view below. Links to the most recent division reports can also be found on the home page.
On Monday, the Mixed 1 team lost 1-8 against South Leicestershire Mixed 4.
The Mixed 1 team have now lost four matches in a row and are finding it hard going in division 4. Kate & Jed were the only pair to win a rubber, with both Jing & Lee and Anna & David finishing empty handed. The next match is against Longslade Stoneygate Mixed 4 on Monday 23rd November. On Thursday last week, the Ladies team secured a 7-2 victory against Huncote Ladies 1 in division 3.
After the frustration of losing a winnable match last time around against Ashby Ladies 1, narrowly losing 4-5 with only two pairs available, it was important that Croakers' Ladies fielded a full team. Caroline & Ayesha were the star performers, winning all three rubbers. Samira & Judith won two out of three rubbers along with Susannah & Claire. Hopefully, the Ladies team can continue to field a full team for the rest of the season. The next match is against Melton OG Ladies 1 on Thursday 19th November. Croakers’ Mixed 1 team lost 2-7 against Longslade Stoneygate Mixed 4 last night and are still searching for their first win in division 4.
After losing the first two matches of the season to Croakers’ own Mixed 2 team, the Mixed 1 team were hoping to kick-start their season against Longslade Stoneygate’s Mixed 4 team. However, both Ayesha & Lee and Samira & Jed were only able to win a rubber each, although many of the games were close in the other rubbers. Anna & Alex were unable to win a rubber, but fought bravely. Mixed 1 have had an unsettled start to the season and last night was no different, with three new pairings playing together. Hopefully the team can get a stable and consistent line-up for the upcoming matches. The next match is against South Leicestershire Mixed 4 on Monday 9th November. |
