January is here and we have reached the halfway point of the season. Let's take a look at the latest League division reports and see how our teams are progressing. Ladies
It's been an eventful first half of the season for the Ladies team in division 3. After losing a handful of established players at the start of the season, due to injury or other commitments, the team has suffered from an unsettled line-up for most of the matches. Caroline, the team captain, is also recovering from an injury and is racing to be fit in time for the next match. Promotion is probably out of the question this season even though there are still over half of the matches yet to play. Note to LBA - the Ladies team has won two matches. Ladies Division Report - 20 January 2016 (PDF) Men The Mens 1 team has only played three matches so far this season and started strongly, winning their first two matches, before losing to a solid Meltonshire Mens 2 team. It's too early to predict how the season will unfold for the Mens 1 team in division 4a, but Central Leicester and Meltonshire look like the teams to beat. All memories of last season have been erased by the Mens 2 team and they've raced to an unbeaten run of five wins from five matches in division 6b. The team is much changed from last season and includes a lot of new players that joined Croakers over the summer. With three matches left, having beaten their nearest rival twice (Huncote), Mens 2 look odds on for promotion. Only the Loughborough Mens 4 team, who they are yet to play, could throw a spanner in the works. Keep it going, team! Mens Division Report - 20 January 2016 (PDF) Mixed Sadly, the Mixed 1 team has been relegated. The team has struggled to compete in division 4, losing all seven matches played so far. Before these latest reports were released, the Mixed 1 team's closest relegation rival was Huncote. Their only hope of survival was to beat Huncote in the home and away fixtures and hope the other teams in the division could do them a favour. Unfortunately, Mixed 1 lost the away fixture and Huncote have moved clear with two wins, sealing the team's fate. Commiserations to the team and especially the captain, Jed. It's not a particularly fun job captaining a team when you keep losing. All that's left is to go out in a blaze of glory in their final match and come back fighting next season. There are no such worries for the Mixed 2 team who top division 4 with five wins from five. This leaves three matches to guarantee promotion, which is looking highly likely and would be an excellent achievement. Good luck, Mixed 2! Mixed Division Report - 20 January 2016 (PDF) New Hall The aim for the New Hall team at the start of the season was to stay in division 2, following promotion last season. Three wins and one draw later, this now looks a strong possibility. The task was made all the easier thanks to Meltonshire conceding both fixtures, gifting Croakers two wins and 40 points. Well done to everyone who has represented Croakers' New Hall team so far this season. New Hall Division Report - 20 January 2016 (PDF) Comments are closed.
